The first stage is forecasted to be complete in 2024.

This stage is to include a commercial and retail spaces with a supermarket and discount department store.

Dining and outdoor amenities are also featured in the pedestrian-friendly environment with green space, seating, undercover areas and wetlands.

“We’ve consolidated uses around very clear public circulation strategies; rather than spreading uses broadly around the precinct, we’re tightening it up and bringing it closer together, so there’s a better concentration of use, activation and connection for people,” said Mr Jones.

The pedestrian experience is underscored as a prioroty for the plan.

The town centre is inteded to cater for the growing population of the town which is located on the outskirts of Melbourne.

According to forecasts by .id Sunbury’s population will more than double in the coming years.

SRL senior development manager Jim Athanas believes the project will be valuable to the area’s growth and evolution.

“It’s no secret that the regions are in the midst of a renaissance, driven largely by COVID lockdowns, shifting lifestyle priorities, and increased work-from-home capabilities, as well as the Homebuilder grant and regional First Home Owner Grant.”

“This rapid growth underpins the need for highquality retail assets developed alongside housing.”
