- Deputy Premier has announced the Regional Events Acceleration Fund
- He says the grants will provide boosts and jobs for major events in regional NSW
- Event applicants can apply for min of $100k, event organisers $50-200k for enhancements
The New South Wales Government has announced a Regional Events Acceleration Fund which will provide grants to facilitate major events in regional areas.
The grants program will cost $20 million with the State Government optimistic this will create jobs for locals in regional New South Wales.
When announcing the program, Deputy Premier John Barilaro, noted the State has proven it is capable of accommodating large crowds in COVID safe environment and therefore can replicate this by hosting events outside of Sydney.
“This funding will deliver major events that will create valuable jobs, keeping money local, as well as giving people the chance to see their favourite teams or performers in their hometown,” said the Deputy Premier.
“By helping organisers to host bigger and better events we are giving regional communities greater access to entertainment and the opportunity to attend events they would otherwise have to travel to metropolitan areas to experience.”
$100,000 grants are available to applicants who wish to bring major sporting, lifestyle, food, beverage, music, art and cultural events to regional that are likely to generate exposure both nationally and internationally.
In addition to this, grants between $50,000 and $200,000 are available for event organisers for assistance in enhancing events. This includes extra seating, temporary fencing, accessibility infrastructure, additional stages, pop-up camping sites and temporary car parks.
The Fund falls under the umbrella of the NSW Government’s $2 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is delivering infrastructure and programs to generate economic opportunities, such as job creation, to improve the standard of living for those living in regional NSW.
