- Following on from a similar one-day event in Perth in 2021, this was the first in the South West
- 773 delegates attended, with various home builders, mortgage brokers and other businesses
The inaugural South West Home Builders Expo was held over five hours last Saturday, at the Lord Forrest Hotel in Bunbury, attracting 773 attendees to see 36 booths.
Set up by BuilderzWA General Manager Cullum Ashton, the event was designed for anyone interested in learning more about building a new home or renovating.
“We are truly amazed at how well our first South West Home Builders Expo went,” Mr Ashton told The Property Tribune.
“Families mentioned how hard it is to find land due to the government home building grants, and having several land agents in one place de-stressed the process.
“Planning for 2022 has already begun learning the lessons from the first one so we can make 2022 bigger and better.”

Mr Ashton said that the expo is planning to become an annual fixture the industry can be involved in, look forward to, and help builders network and support each other.
As well as eight home building companies, various mortgage brokers were on hand who could enable pre-approval on the spot.
Several suppliers had stalls that were either operating in the South West or in Perth looking to expand into new regions.
Shadow Minister for Regional Development Hon Dr Steve Thomas officially opened the expo and said “the South West is an important part of the Western Australian economy and events like this are critical in its development.”
One of the attendees Sally Payne told The Property Tribune that it had been “such a great event” and she “only had positive feedback”.
Well known land and property developer Nigel Satterley attended in the late afternoon to meet the stallholders and speak with attendees.
“[This is a] great event, … I’m very happy and let’s start planning the Perth Home Builders Expo.”
