A new luxury high rise in Sydney is now home to a robotic car park system that is the very first of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

German company, Lödige Industries, has completed the fully autonomous car park for a new luxury highrise in Sydney’s Parramatta District.

The high-tech car park encompasses six levels of a nine-level basement underneath the residential tower known as The Lennox. The other three levels comprise of a conventional parking system bringing the total vehicle capacity to 327.

The Lennox houses 414 apartments across 46 floors The building itself was completed in November 2021 with Aoyuan International responsible for the development, and EQ Construction taking on the building contract.

President of Aoyuan International and Head of Development Australia, Adrian Liaw, says distinguished architecture and innovative design are important to Aoyuan’s projects.

“For The Lennox, we wanted both a modern functionality and timeless aesthetic combined with our customary meticulous quality and craftsmanship,” Mr Liaw said.

“The automated parking technology from Lödige Industries offers both the innovative functionality and luxurious user experience we were keen to create and the performance we needed to see.”

Lödige Industries’ technology allows up to 60% more cars to be placed in the same space compared to conventional parking structures.

The car park will serve The Lennox residents as well as the public. Users drop off their vehicles at one of five transfer cabins. From there the system is automated with robots delivering the vehicle to a free parking space.

With pick-up times of around 2 minutes, approximately 90 vehicles can be parked or retrieved per hour.

The system is the very first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, using Lödige Industries’ robotic ‘CUBILE’ technology.

Lödige Industries Asia Pacific Managing Director Nicholas Tripptree says that the system is space-saving while adding to the modern and sophisticated ambience of the new building.

“Efficiency and aesthetics do not have to be a contradiction and can complement each other very well. Our automated parking facility at ‘The Lennox’ proves this.”
