- An antique block is now listed for sale in Sydney's The Rocks
- The Victorian style terraces have vast potential with subdivision
- Potential buyers will face the challenge he site's heritage protection
An entire block in one of Sydney’s central suburbs is now for sale with 18 unique properties under one title.
The properties are located in The Rocks, known to be a historically rich suburb. The mostly late Victorian style terraces were built from the early 1900’s.
The property, listed by Savills Australia, contains one commercial property and 17 dwellings.
The block was put on the market towards the end of 2019 but, like many properties, sale was paused when the pandemic began.
John Tropman, is the director of Tropman and Tropman, a local architectural firm that worked on and advised many properties in The Rocks.
Tropman describes the block as “frozen in time”. He says many interested parties when it was first listed were considering subdividing it.
Potential buyers would face challenges as the area is protected by heritage controls.
Tropman believes that the site has great potential for potential makeover or renovation opportunities.
“It needs someone with great vision”

Many surrounding buildings were knocked down in the 1920’s with the Sydney Harbor Bridge construction, leaving this block as a one of the only remaining original structures in the historic area.
The expression of interest campaign for the property ends on 8 April at 4pm.
