  • Burgess Rawson to hold its last portfolio auction of the year
  • Fitzroys sells three Melbourne retail properties
  • Darwin Hotel bid sees major brands line up, including Marriott and Intercontinental

While the headline is definitely a breath of journalistic hot air and taking some liberties, sales are heating up across Australia as we move towards Christmas.

Burgess Rawson is selling a portfolio of properties, including 16 leased to ASX-listed companies, with Fitzroys selling up three retail properties in Melbourne’s southeast.

Darwin is also set to see a new hotel, with Accor, Intercontinental Group, Marriott, and Radisson some of the companies expressing interest in the Darwin Convention Centre Hotel.

Woolworths, Officeworks, Hungry Jacks, and Mazda properties up for sale

Burgess Rawson will soon be taking a large number of properties to auction across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, 16 of which are leased to ASX-listed blue chip retailers including Woolworths, Wesfarmers, and Endeavour Group.

Held across December 6 through 8, the portfolio includes a freestanding Woolworths supermarket at Cooma, a PFD Foods portfolio, a Hungry Jacks in Wangaratta, a Mazda service centre in Ferntree Gully, a Prahran Guardian Childcare and Education, a Tabcorp in Kew, Red Rooster in Queensland, and an Officeworks in North Lakes.

Burgess Rawson Chief Executive, Ingrid Filmer, is expecting to finish the year on a high note, with the last event seeing a clearance rate of 91.5%.

“We’re forecasting a solid end to the year with the insatiable investor appetite for secure high-profile assets showing no signs of abating.”

Melbourne retail roars as three shops sold for over $1M each

Fitzroys has sold three Melbourne properties across the city’s south-east. These include

  • 377 Centre Road for $1.753 million at 2.59% yield,
  • 83 McKinnon Road for $1.106 million, and
  • 64 Rosstown Road for $1.052 million.

The Centre Road property is in the Melbourne suburb of Bentleigh, with the property occupied by long-standing tenant Japanese restaurant Ajisai. The shop is 161 square metres.

Located in McKinnon, the 83 McKinnon Road property was sold vacant to coffee roaster and restauranteur Julien Moussi. The 98-square-metre property is on a 198-square-metre site at the corner of Wheatley Road.

The final property to recently sell was located in Carnegie. The 64 Rosstown Road address includes a 127 square metre building on a 236 square metre site.

Darwin Convention Centre Hotel bid heats up

The property is expected to offer between 200 to 250 rooms, with the convention centre hotel development site on Stokes Hill Road.

“Darwin has recorded incredible RevPAR growth over the past 12 months leading in Australia’s market recovery, supported by record private and public infrastructure in the region,” said CBRE Hotels Director Tom Gibson.

“The Darwin Convention Centre Hotel is listed in the NT infrastructure plan and pipeline 2022 as one of the key projects that align with the strategy’s investment objectives, in particular, to invest in the right infrastructure, in the right place, at the right time,” said Chief Minister Natasha Fyles.

“The Territory’s economic position is bouncing back from COVID-19 with investors actively looking for projects to undertake,” added Fyles.
