- First dedicated apartment awards program for Australia
- Limited for WA apartments in its first year
- Idea is to take the awards national in the future
The Australian Apartment Advocacy (AAA) group are launching Australia’s first dedicated Apartment Awards for Excellence, with entries closing at the end of this month.
“At AAA, we are advocates of apartment living and call it the easy-breezy lifestyle – but we are also aware that the delivery of quality projects is intrinsically linked to buyer satisfaction and hence the longevity of this housing typology.
“As such, these awards aim to recognise excellence, innovation and leadership in apartment developments,” said WAAA Director Samantha Reece.
The inaugural awards will be Western Australian-focussed, but AAA’s intent is to broaden this out to a nationwide awards program over the coming years.
The awards are open to residential apartment buildings located in the Perth metro area which have been completed in the past five years.
The awards comprise of a number of categories including:
- Ageing in place
- Affordability
- Innovation/technology
- Heritage and community culture
- Precinct rejuvenation/civic contribution
- Luxury
- Refurbished apartments
- Enduring
- People’s choice (for Council of Owners to nominate their building)
“I think the People’s Choice award allows those residents that have taken great care for their community and development a chance to shine and that public recognition will celebrate the epitome of apartment living that we wish to promote and set as the benchmark,” Ms Reece said.
The panel of judges includes Paul Lakey (GM Peet), Josh Byrne (Josh Byrne and Associates), Justine Roberts (Kingston Developments), Sharni Howe (Urban Design, Architecture and ESD consultancy), Jayson Miragliotta (City of Perth), Greg Rowe (Rowe Group), Gail Deary (Nesuto) and Peter Lee (Hassell).
Entries will be accepted until 31 March and the Awards Presentation night will be held on 21 May 2021.
