Japanese-founded developer Sekisui House has announced it has entered into an agreement with Australian developer Stockland to grow its local home building business across master planned communities in north-west Sydney.
Under the agreement, Stockland will develop the Lakeside precinct at Sekisui House’s Gledswood Hills community, while Sekisui will design and construct over 300 homes across The Gables and Elara communities.
Sean Osawa, Sekisui House Australia’s chief executive officer of communities and home building said their sustainable SHAWOOD homes has been hugely popular in south west Sydney, and that the team were excited to bring more choice to homebuyers through the agreement.
“The north-west region remains significantly under-supplied and both The Gables and Elara communities are set to continue to receive strong demand from homebuyers,” said Mr Osawa.
“Having already delivered more than 450 homes at Gledswood Hills since 2014, including large, detached designer homes, luxuriously appointed terraces and our first 8-star, net-zero-energy home in Australia – SHINKA House – we are thrilled by the prospects of this new opportunity.”

Strategies align
Andrew Whitson, Stockland’s CEO of Communities, said the partnership with Sekisui aligns with the developer’s strategy to expand landholdings in popular areas with strong connectivity and access to retail, schools, services and place of employment.
“Lakeside is a good fit with the Stockland residential portfolio and will add to the $1.8 billion Stockland has invested in New South Wales,” said Mr Whitson.
The Lakeside precinct is part of Sekisui House’s active Gledswood Hills development with future plans including a 7.5-hectare heritage-inspired Gledswood Village.
Founded in Japan in 1960, Sekisui House has delivered over 2.5 million homes globally, and has been operating in Australia since 2009.
