Master Builders Australia (MBA) and the Pharmacy Guild have announced a partnership in a bid to fast track vaccination rates among those working in the construction and building industry.

The alliance will involve MBA promoting the Pharmacy Guild’s online resources to tradies encouraging them to get the jab.

According to Denita Wawn, CEO of Master Builders Australia, the online resources enable builders and tradies to book a vaccine appointment at a local community pharmacy, within minutes.

The system will allow ease of access to booking vaccinations, but also allow MBA to track vaccination rates in the industry.

The MBA has reported a reluctance among tradies and builders to get vaccinated, attributing the hesitancy to a lack of trust in governments. They have previously called on Premiers and Chief Ministers to keep their promises and open up when vaccination rates reach 70% and 80%.

Ms Wawn also explained that many in the industry “erroneously” believe that the virus does not pose a threat to them.

“They are willing to get the jab to stop the lockdowns and open the country as outlined in National Cabinet’s national plan if the process is made easier and that’s where community pharmacies come in.”

The two industry peak bodies teaming up is the latest move in the MBA’s national campaign, “Let’s Get The Jab, Let’s Get It Done”.

Other steps in the campaign have included billboards and the following animated video.
