The common thread between most of Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Regions for 2022 seems to be soul satisfying quietude, with the exception of an ever vibrant Puerto Rico.

Each location plays host to vast, undulating landscapes and greenery; there lay a stark juxtaposition between the unforgiving, wild and ragged nature of sheer cliff faces and mother nature’s self correction via verdant variations and viticultural joie de vivre.

The list beings with Icelandic fjords, with Australia’s contribution a little further down the list:

  1. Westfjords, Iceland,
  2. West Virginia, USA,
  3. Xishuangbanna, China,
  4. Kent’s Heritage Coast,
  5. Puerto Rico, USA,
  6. Shikoku, Japan,
  7. Atacama Desert, Chile,
  8. The Scenic Rim, Queensland, Australia,
  9. Vancouver Island, Canada, and
  10. Burgundy, France.

Gold Coast hinterland on the market

Adjacent to the world heritage-listed Lamington National Park, 89 hectares of land is on offer on the renowned Binna Burra plateau.

The Gold Coast hinterland site at Beechmont has the development opportunity for up to 200 residential and tourism dwellings, features 76 hectares of rainforest, and is located at 618 Binna Burra Road.

“This is a true once-in-a-generation development opportunity, providing an opportunity to secure an approved development site that will likely never be available again.”

Mark Witheriff, CBRE Gold Coast Managing Director

Mr Witheriff said the sales campaign expects to see interest from a very wide spectrum of potential buyers:

“The ability to build up to 200 residential and tourism dwellings at the edge of the Binna Burra escarpment, overlooking 76ha of rainforest, will generate significant interest from property developers, lifestyle, rural retreat buyers, environmental groups and the eco-tourism industry.”

Transaction Advisor Alex McMahon added, “The property has three access points from Binna Burra Road, Timbarra Drive and Akoonah Drive. Surrounded by large lot residential housing, this oasis includes approximately 12ha of partially cleared and approved developable land, with an additional 76ha of rainforest with approvals for tourism-based activities.”

Expressions of interest for the site close Thursday 7 April 2022.
