Another Sydney icon has hit the market in as many months.

In December last year, Manly Wharf was listed for $80 million. Both a passenger terminal and an icon unto itself, the property was turned into a retail and hospitality hub by TMG Developments after it acquired the leasehold in 1995.

Come the new year, Intercontinental Double Bay came to market. It was previously acquired for $180 million in 2021.

One of the largest strata retail offerings along the East Circular Quay strip was sold for $20.5 million, home to renowned Italian restaurant Eastbank. The property has unrivalled views of Sydney’s world-famous Circular Quay and Harbour Bridge.

Located at the famed Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, Lot 1 has hit the market. The property has an area of 334 square metres, with a mezzanine level in addition to the ground floor.

It can accommodate 165 covers, with both indoor and outdoor dining.

The property was previously home to the hatted Indian restaurant Aki’s, which operated from 2003 until it closed in 2020 as a result of Covid.

Finger Wharf is also home to other hatted fine dining restaurants and a stunning boutique hotel. In the company of Lot 1: Ovolo Hotel, and restaurants including Otto, China Doll, Kingsley’s, and Manta.

Heading to an auction, Knight Frank Partner, National Portfolio Investments Michael Gilbert said the restaurant space in Finger Wharf offers buyers an extremely rare opportunity to purchase a waterfront restaurant.

“It is the first time that such an opportunity has been offered on the open market for over 20 years, and I cannot see another being offered ever again,” said Gilbert.

“There are no other vacant restaurants at Finger Wharf and all the existing restaurants are very busy, with strong patronage, and hence very tightly held.”

Andrew Vines of Retail Commercial Consultancy said Finger Wharf was one of the highest-profile dining locations in Australia and was highly sought after by restaurant operators.

“We expect strong interest from restaurant operators looking to purchase a space in an established and very popular dining precinct,” he said.

“There is spectacular outdoor dining both on the waterfront side, as well as on the return frontage to Cowper Wharf Road.”
