  • Multiple sporting and recreational activities to be on offer

An $11 million community sports precinct will begin development later this year in Denham Court, in Sydney’s south-west.

Set to finish by the end of 2022, property developer Stockland said the design was completed following collaboration from the Willowdale community.

The precinct will feature an AFL field, equalling two sized soccer pitches, one secondary training field, one cricket pitch, cricket training nets, and an amenities block including barbeque facilities and sports club facilities.

The features will add to the already established community with its retail centre, retirement village, three hectares of green space with playgrounds, walking and cycle tracks, and soon-to-be-opened public school.

Accessible

Project director at Willowdale Sophie Ale said the precinct will be accessible to more than 3,000 residents, including those from surrounding suburbs.

She said the investment will provide multiple sporting and active recreation activities.

The property developer aims to connect the upcoming sports precinct to the existing nature reserve, giving residents the ability to move between sporting fields, green spaces, and Variety’s upcoming inclusive playspace for kids.

With a plan to create the Willowdale community in 2017, Stockland was recognised as best masterplanned community in Australia at the Property Council’s Innovation & Excellence Awards in 2019.

“Willowdale sets an extremely high benchmark for residential development.”
