- Civil construction for GemLife Gold Coast has now commenced
- Sales for the over 50s resort-style masterplanned community have been launced
- Off-the-plan homes are priced from $605,000
Featuring a country club, rooftop pool, bowling alley, cinema, wine lounge and virtual golf, developer Gemlife has just launched its new lifestyle resort aimed for the over 50s.
The $200 million flagship community, GemLife Gold Coast, is located in Pimpama on the Gold Coast.
Retirement villages booming
With an ageing population, the sector is witnessing strong growth.
The announcement comes as Stockland announced this week the sale of its retirement village arm for just shy of $1 billion.
FY21 results for key lifestyle communities players such as Lifestyle Communities, Ingenia and Aspen were strong, with the former two’s net profits up by over 100%.
In particular, the Gold Coast is witnessing strong growth from Australian buyers, especially in Melbourne and Sydney, who are retiring to the more affordable south east Queensland.
Investors have been taking advantage of this situation too.
Fitness amenities a priority
This first stage of sales is bringing 77 homes to the market, but once complete the site will comprise 365 homes. The homes are being sold off the plan with buyers able to select from 13 designs, priced from $605,000.

GemLife Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Puljich, described the amenities as meeting residnet’s demand in staying fit.
“We know our over-50s are staying healthier and living longer and, as they get older, they prioritise activities that mean the most to them – from friendships to fitness and simply feeling good.”
“GemLife Gold Coast is designed to meet that benchmark every day.”
“Residents will live the resort lifestyle every day, from the golf simulator, to the sky lounge and the infinity-edge pool complete with semi-submerged sunlounges and poolside cabanas.”

Construction has commenced for the resort which is to be completed in three years.
Mr Puljich says that interest to date has been predominantly from the younger end of the over 50s category.
“There has been a shift in recent years that has seen younger buyers looking to take advantage of the active lifestyle benefits of an over-50s resort and, based on early enquiry, we’re set to see that trend continue at GemLife Gold Coast,” he said.
“Enquiries are predominately from buyers on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, with the location in the northern Gold Coast corridor making it easily accessible to both city centres.”
GemLife Gold Coast’s masterplan and extensive facilities have been designed by Gold Coast architect Jared Poole, director of Jared Poole Design.
Mr Poole said the Gold Coast Lifestyle is what he kept in mind when designing the Country Club.
“Our brief was to create a premium high-street village feel and sense of community. The pinnacle is undoubtedly the rooftop entertaining space, which will be a place for residents to relax or socialise while taking in panoramic views from North Stradbroke to Burleigh.”
