Hutchinson Builders – or better known as Hutchies –  has been appointed by Melbourne-based developer Hirsch & Faigen to deliver the $200 million Yves development in Mermaid Beach.

To be located at 7-9 Mermaid Avenue, right near the Hedges Avenue beachfront strip, construction is scheduled to commence this month.

With the appointment of Hutchinson, Yves will add to the builder’s current pipeline of 35 projects, totalling some $1.4 billion, across the Gold Coast.

20 of the 40 Tower Cranes currently seen in the Gold Coast skyline belong to the builder, with 15 more to join by the end of the year.

Additionally, the project pipeline 11 residential towers valued at close to $900 million.

Hutchinson’s Associate Director Jack Hutchinson – who represents the fifth generation of the family business – said the team was delighted to be working with Hirsch & Faigen on the project.

“We are always quite discerning with the projects we take on, and Hirsch & Faigen’s developments are precisely the standard of quality architecture that we are proud to bring to the Gold Coast,” he said.

“We are well resourced and have over 110 years’ experience navigating the challenges of the industry, which has allowed us to continuously deliver high quality projects across southeast Queensland.”

Daniel Faigen, Hirch & Faigen Director, added the appointment launches Yves to the next stage of the delivery process.

“This is the third time we have partnered with Hutchies on our Gold Coast projects and we’re delighted to have the team on board to bring our latest vision, Yves, to life,” he said.

“Hutchies have an infallible reputation across the construction industry, and a great balance sheet to back it up, which offers certainty and peace of mind to our buyers.”

The project is expected to employ about 200 workers at peak, with an average of 100 – 120 workers on site and 40 – 50 offsite during the construction program, expected to take 2.5 years.

The appointment comes off a strong run of sales, with 50% sold during just a few months. This has fast-tracked the construction process.

Upon completion, Yves will be home to 145 residences over 26 levels, with high-end residential amenities.

The other two Yves and Hirsch & Faigen projects include the $75 million Hemingway Palm Beach and $85 million Emerson Kirra developments.
