Sydney developer Deicorp has announced the approval of its 430-unit mixed use project, which will be built right next to the Hills Showground Metro Station.
Following an assessment program that began early last year, the State Significant Project was signed of by the Independent Planning Commission (IPC).
This site forms part of the Hills Showground Station Precinct, which received approval back in January 2021. The precinct will accommodate up to 1,620 dwellings and 13,900sqm of non-residential gross floor area.
The approved development will feature a three-level 10,935 sqm retail podium with a supermarket, speciality shops and commercial areas that are below the four 20-level residential towers.
This approval also facilitates the construction of a publicly accessible plaza linking the Showground Metro Station and the recent precinct.
The project is the second Landcom and Sydney Metro project have received approval for together, with work currently underway on the first project, a Tallawong mixed-use project.
Fouad Deiri, Deicorp’s founder and Chairman, said he was delighted to have received approval for the project.
“The Sydney Metro Northwest is one of the most important pieces of transport infrastructure in living memory. The convenient connection to jobs, services and housing is improving the quality of life for thousands of people and helping them become homeowners in a great part of Sydney,” Mr Deiri said.
“We are delighted to be delivering 2,000 apartments in Sydney’s Northwest that directly benefit from being on the doorstep of the Metro.”
This project Is also targeting housing for key workers such as nurses, teachers and emergency services personnel, with 5% allocated as affordable housing.
“The Showground Station Precinct will help deliver homes that are perfect for young families, first home buyers and those who want the convenience and lifestyle of living in a vibrant new village,” Mr Deiri said.
“Deicorp is proud to be doing our bit by providing the homes and jobs needed to meet the demands of a growing community.
The project has also achieved a 5-Star Green Star rating “as built” thanks to its design.
Transport focus
Deicorp has been focused on delivering transport-connected developments, which has made the developer one of the leading apartment builders in Australia over the past two decades.
The value of its projects last year has made the developer among the top 10 of all construction companies in Australia.
1,500 apartments have been sold in the past 12 months, which followers Deicorp becoming the first developer to be rated under the NSW government’s Independent Construction Industry Rating Tool (iCIRT).
