- The new space is a collaboration from JJ Leach Group and local proptechs
- At the opening, eight proptechs pitched their startups and tech to an invited audience
- More events will be scheduled at the space, which has sold nearly all its space
A new dedicated space for proptechs has opened at 110 William Street, in the centre of Perth’s CBD.
At a whole-day event last week, the top floor of the building was given over the showcase eight different proptechs, some of whom have also taken up residence in level 2.
Property Council WA Director Sandra Brewer was on hand with the newly elected Lord Mayor of Perth Basil Zempilas to cut the ribbon (see main photo) together with the general manager of the hub, Cullum Ashton, and Director of JJ Leach Group – who own the building – Christian Leach.
‘Proptechs’ are usually tech startups that focus in one way or other on the property industry.
One such proptech, Udrew, was set up by former engineer and draftsman Tom Young. His company has developed technology that can plan and cost a home renovation project in minutes, all online, including all the approvals process.
He won the WA Innovator of the Year Award in 2019, and his pitch also won the showcase last week at the opening of the Proptech Hub.
Other proptechs that were presented on the day included Derive, which has developed a completely virtual reality cityscape where businesses can buy space and show off their wares.
Another featured proptech was HomeHub, a not for profit marketplace for people looking to find a place to live in an emergency or homeless situation. Director Iain Shields said that applicants can take eight years to find a suitable place under the current system.
The organiser of the day, and general manager of the space is Cullum Ashton, who runs his own proptech, BuilderzWA, which helps first home buyers navigate the land sale and home building market.

Further events are planned including a Social Housing and Sustainability showcase in April and the PropTech Australia Awards in May.
Most of the available desk and office space in the new hub has already been snapped up by local proptechs.
