Global construction company Multiplex has been appointed to deliver a major upgrade to Mosman High School on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, following a competitive tender process.

This appointment follows 12 months of a School Infrastructure NSW-run Early Contractor Involvement engagement process to plan and design the upgrade.

The funding for the project comes under the state government’s four-year $8.6 billion investment to deliver new and upgraded schools.

Designed by Woods Bagot, the upgrade will include 16 additional flexible learning spaces and a new multi-purpose gym/hall, administration area, library and canteen. New outdoors spaces, including a rooftop sports multicourt, will also be constructed.

David Ghannoum, Multiplex Regional Managing Director for NSW, said, “Multiplex is thrilled to be the contractor on this important project for the NSW Department of Education and the Mosman community”.

The project will also include the company’s new Jump Start program, designed to offer female students a first-hand look at what a construction career would look like.

“Our national Jump Start program is a very grassroots way for us to encourage more women to consider a career in construction, by showing them the diversity of roles on offer and breaking down some of the myths about our industry,” said Mr Ghannoum.

“It was started by a group of Multiplex women and it’s wonderful to see the positive effect it has had on many hundreds of young women at a pivotal time of making career decisions.”

The school will remain fully optional while the upgrade takes shape. The project is expected to be completed by the middle of next year, and in total will create 150 jobs.
