  • Was ultimately sold for above $5M
  • Penthouse received attention for being leased out for $260K/yr

Last month, we reported on luxury property developer Tim Gurner and his wife Aimee who listed their 300sqm penthouse for sale.

Although initially listed for $4.4 – $4.8 million, it was sold after one weekend of advertising for a figure reportedly above $5 million – over 15% above the asking price.

Interest in the ultra-high-end residence came from overseas, including South Africa, Hong Kong and the UK.

Michael Paproth of The Agency and Gurner’s general manager of retail sales, Deborah Wiltshire, handled the sale.

“It was hard to let go of such a unique penthouse, especially given we poured our heart and soul into it – but we are very happy with the result, and we know the purchaser has bought extremely well given the quality of the build,” said Mr Gurner.

“It is a very special apartment that we know they will love for many years to come. The sale shows the strength of the high-end market, that we have been working so hard in for nearly a decade, and where we continue to exceed expectations of what is possible for apartment living.”

Mr Paproth said after launching the apartment on Thursday, inspections were organised both in-person and virtually within hours.

“It’s a testament to the Gurner brand, which has such an incredible following, that when we launch an established Gurner residence we are inundated with enquiry,” he said.

“We continue to see the prestige market gravitate to the dual residence lifestyle with rural and coastal living becoming increasingly popular coupled with the luxury city apartment. This sale was exactly that scenario.”

The penthouse received media attention last year when it was leased for an eye-watering $260,000 per annum – or $5,000 a week.

Plus, let us not forget the $40,000 Sensowash toilet.
