Master Builders Queensland celebrated the 2021 Mackay & Whitsundays Housing & Construction Awards at the Mackay Convention Centre on 14 August.
The unprecedented year was met with unprecedented excellence, Master Builders Mackay & Whitsundays Regional Manager, Malcolm Hull, said as he praised the industry.
“Since the pandemic first hit us back in 2020, our members have excelled in the face of adversity, and are continuing to amaze us with their tenacity,” said Mr Hull.
“From sweeping homes capturing the beauty of our region, to world-class tourism facilities, inspiring sustainable projects, and individuals inspiring others, I am immensely proud of our Mackay & Whitsunday builders, tradies and everyone who is a part of what makes this industry so great,” added Mr Hull.
Mackay & Whitsunday President’s Award
The prestigious award was made to Hotondo Homes Mackay for Marcoola 209. Located at Shoal Point, the project was described as offering “excellent value for money”. It also won best Individual Home from $250,000 to $350,000.
Hotondo Homes Mackay also took out two other awards: best Individual Home from $650,000 to $750,000 for Como 412, and best Display Home from $350,000 up to $450,000 for Kirkby 257.
Marcoola 209 was praised for its considered design, with particular mention of the master suite placement.
“The master suite has been placed at the front of the home for ease of access after a long day at work, boasting an oversized walk-in robe and beautifully appointed ensuite with stone and timber accents.” Master Builders Queensland said in a statement.
The home received praise from the judges for being great value for money, and “clever use of space with family living in mind…thoughtfully designed.”
It was also noted the home had an “enviable street appeal with the clever use of mixed materials.”
