The Victorian Government has announced grants that it says will boost touring opportunities for various creative and community organisations who wish to perform across regional Victoria.

Danny Pearson, the Minister for Creative Industries, has invited organisations to apply for the grants through the Touring Victoria and Small Regional Presenters programs.

He also added that projects that had previously received support from Touring Victoria but had to shift plans due to the pandemic are eligible to reapply.

The program offers grants to regionally-based not-for-profit community presenters-including community organisations and local government bodies – as a way to bring performing art shows to local communities.

“Programs like these are all about supporting our regions and supporting our artists – to deliver top quality performances to audiences across the state,” said Mr Pearson.

This program will be managed by Regional Arts Vicotria on behalf of the State Government.

There will be COVIDSafe funding available to presents who had to postpone their shows this year due to the pandemic.

$1.1 million will be available in grants, with this funding coming from the $40 million allocated in the last State Budget towards creative reactivation and renewal.

“Our regional touring programs will support our creatives to get back to work, our venues to reactivate and our communities to come together to experience all the benefits our creative state has to offer,” said Mr Pearson.

“Whether you’re planning to go on tour or there is a show that would be a hit in your community, I encourage groups across the state to find out more about our programs and apply.”
