  • The field of entrants this year was "one of the most diverse"
  • Jewel Residences on the Gold Coast took out Project of the Year
  • Every floor in every tower is a different shape and size

The 2021 Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards saw a field of inspirational projects, with the three major awards taken out by residential towers that look befitting of its name, a house that is more akin to a sprawling estate or exclusive resort, and another house that exudes Scandanavian chic.

This years entrants were “one of the most diverse we’ve seen”, said Master Builders (MBA) CEO Grant Galvin.

“From stunning renovations and beautiful new homes, to important community, education, healthcare and tourism facilities, and soaring residential and business towers inspiring the imagination — there’s nothing Master Builders can’t accomplish,” Mr Galvin said.

“The efforts of individuals from apprentices, to women leading the way in the industry, and builders showing the promise of a long and exciting future ahead, is also something we are always delighted to celebrate.”

Project of the Year

Jewel Residences by Multiplex Constructions Qld Pty Ltd won the award. The three luxury residential towers on Queensland’s Gold Coast look befitting of the name, Jewel, and was a project that had many intricacies.

Every floor in every tower is a different shape and size, each with intricacies you have to see up close to understand their true complexity.

The judges praised the project:

“The engineering and subsequent construction challenges that were overcome to build three different, 40+ storey towers, where every floor plate on every level is different, in such close proximity to each other, is mind blowing. It is not until you stand at the bottom of the towers and look up that you start to appreciate the enormity of the challenge faced by the project team.”

Judges also noted that when speaking to the project team, the passion invested in the Jewel was evident in every fibre of the team:

“Talking to the project team when we attended the site clearly showed that the team fully lived and breathed the project from day one and showed a passion for the industry that exemplifies all the positive things that we should stand for.”
