Brookfield Properties has secured global law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills to occupy premium office space at its new Perth development, One The Esplanade.

Joining Chevron Australia, Herbert Smith Freehills has committed to a 10-year lease of approximately 4,000 sqm across two floors, taking office leasing pre-commitment levels in the tower to around 85%.

“It is pleasing to see another major company move into the Elizabeth Quay precinct, which is finally connecting the Perth CBD core to the Swan River waterfront,” said Carl Schibrowski, Executive Vice President & Co-Head of Brookfield Properties.

“What we have seen from our leasing program at One The Esplanade so far – and from early enquiry to our other planned projects at Elizabeth Quay – is a flight to quality from blue chip tenants who are attracted by the lifestyle, amenity and Premium nature of the buildings and precinct.”

Carl Schibrowski, Executive Vice President & Co-Head of Brookfield Properties

“Elizabeth Quay is an iconic new, mixed-use addition to the Perth CBD and Brookfield Properties is delighted to be developing the best parcels within this iconic waterfront location.

“This deal is a great example of the continued confidence in the Perth market and in the office market in general, despite the temporary challenge of COVID-19.”

“We are excited to be moving to a brand new premium building in a fabulous location,” said Elizabeth Macknay, Herbert Smith Freehills Perth Office Managing Partner.

“One The Esplanade offers us a blank canvas to create an environment with state-of-the-art facilities that best supports how our teams work together and with our clients to deliver exceptional service.”

Currently under construction and scheduled for completion in early 2023, One The Esplanade will be a 29-level, circa 57,000 sqm PCA Premium Grade office building with state-of-the-art end of trip facilities including retail, food and beverage options, as well as gymnasium and childcare facilities.
