Over the weekend, the Master Builders Australia WA (MBA) held their annual Housing Excellence Awards.
The MBA awards aim to “showcase and reward members for demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship, commitment to building excellence, and upholding the highest professional standard.”
Amongst the shimmering disco balls and ball gowns, the shining lights of country homes were announced.
The finalists
The three finalists announced for the Best Country Home category were:
- Poett Building in Willyung, Great Southern region,
- Bluewater Building in Eagle Bay, South West region, and
- Poynton Building in Jurien Bay, Midwest region.
The winner
Bluewater Building was awarded 2021 Best Country Home.
It is the second year running the builder and the home has been recognised with an award in the category, last year it won Best Country Home in the South West.
Master Builders Judge Charlie Baggetta said:
“The home truly encapsulates what the housing excellence awards are all about. The recognition they’ve received from both the 2020 and 2021 awards has been based purely on Bluewater Building’s unconditional commitment to perfection, which is evident in their Eagle Bay home.

The three-storey home sits on a north-facing block with views of Geographe Bay, the views as awe-inspiring as the workmanship.
“The stonework, tiling, cabinetry and external finishes are the perfect example of exceptional craftmanship and commitment to quality,” said the judges.
Bluewater Building’s South West jewel is lavished by its environment, the ground and first floors have large enclosed boundaries designed for enjoyment.
Externally, the property is punctuated with spotted gum and James Hardie cladding.
“It’s important we celebrate those builders who strive for excellence in all they do. Combining complexity with quality is no easy feat and something that should be recognised and honoured.”
